Adam Sutherland (fiddle) has devoted his entire life to composing, performing and teaching Scottish fiddle music. ‘The Road to Errogie’ and ‘Trip to the Market’ are two tunes that have become session standards in many countries around the world.
Fin Moore and Sarah Hoy started playing together over 20 years ago when they regularly led sessions in Birnam. They have since performed as a duo all over the world.
Royal Conservatoire of Scotland junior musicians are some of the best young traditional players in the land.
Fiddle player Charlie Stewart won the prestigious 2017 BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year and will play with harpist Rebecca Hill, having made a recording as a duo in 2022.
One of Scotland’s finest fiddle players, Charlie McKerron has played in Capercaillie since 1985 and along with Marc Clement are more recently part of the super group Session A9.
“Dunkeld Strath & Reel" has been an important part of Dunkeld's lively traditional music scene for the past 90 years, has been closely associated with the Niel Gow Festival and, under its music director Pete Clark, is delighted to bring you a programme of great music from the 18th to the 21st centuries, much of it composed locally.
